Prescriptive or Descriptive

One argument against the necessity of water baptism, though becoming increasingly rare, states that the NT references to baptim are all descriptive, not prescriptive.  By this, people mean that the texts describe what people did (baptism), but these texts do not carry the weight of commands from God.  Is that true?  Are the New Testament passages concerning baptism simply and only descriptive?  Join us as we learn about what God describes and what God demands!
