Our Assembly
You are Welcome Here!
Visitors are always welcome at the University Oaks Church of Christ. You are our honored guests, and should you come and worship with us, in addition to glorifying God, it will be our hope that you will be edified. Don’t be surprised if someone offers you a warm welcome. We won’t call on you, or single you out in any way. Someone may ask you to fill out a visitor’s card so that we may have the opportunity to thank you for your visit, and offer to be of service to you.
Our services are Biblical in practice. You will find us:
Singing – Like our brethren from the first century church, you will find us encouraging one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with our hearts (Ephesians 5:19)
Praying – Time will be spent praying to our Father in Heaven, thanking him for his countless blessings upon us, praising His name, and making supplication to Him.
Partaking of the Lord’s Supper on Sundays – We have been instructed by Jesus to commemorate the death of our Lord by partaking of the Lord’s Supper on the first day of the week, Sunday. (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29)
Giving – Also, on the first day of the week, members of this local work are given the opportunity to give of their means. A collection plate is passed around, but our visitors are never asked to contribute (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).
Preaching and Teaching – There will be a gospel sermon (Acts 20:7). You can expect it to be based upon God’s Word as revealed in the Bible.
If you see us do anything that you don’t understand, or if you hear anything that doesn’t make sense, please feel free to ask questions. We will be happy to give you an answer for the things done here. And if you see anything out of order, or not according to scripture, you would be our friend to point that out to us that we might search the scriptures and follow, more closely, God’s Word.
